How can I pause a kanban loop?

Answer

When you need to momentarily suspend a kanban loop, you can set the number of cards of the kanban loop to zero in such a way that:

• the cards that are currently present in the board are preserved;
• all the cards will be considered as excess cards with respect to the new loop sizing: from the next releases, the cards will simply be deleted without triggering any replenishment.

When all the cards will be released, the loop will not be visible in the board anymore; however, it will remain active and visible in Kanbans > Active kanban loops.

To see it again in the board, you simply need to modifiy another time the number of cards for the loop.

Procedure:

1. Go to Kanban boards and select the board of interest;
2. Find the loop you want to pause and click on the loop header;
3. Click on Edit kanban loop;
4. Under Kanban loop sizing, set the Number of kanban cards to zero;
5. Click on Save to save the edits.
