Question
How can I deal with a change of code or with a phase-out?
Answer
Phase-out only
The part number is discontinued and it is not going to be replaced by another part number.
Procedure:
- Go to
Kanbans >
Active Kanban loops; - Find the kanban loop to be deleted;
- Select the row and then click on
Delete kanban loop; - Select
Delete kanban loop but not kanban cards: this will delete the kanban loop but will keep the kanban cards inside the board (they will be deleted upon their release).
Phase-in and phase-out
The actual part number is discontinued (phase-out), but it is going to be replaced by a new part number (phase-in). With the procedure explained below, it is possible to automatically manage the transition from an old part code to the newer one, consuming all remaining stock of the old one.
Procedure:
- Go to the
Kanban board and choose the loop you want to update; - Click on the header of the loop and then on
Edit kanban loop; - Under General information select (or create) the new part number;
- Click on
Save; - Go back to the
Kanban board: the cards will show an exclamation point to indicate that the parameters of the cards differ from those of the loop.
You can force the alignemnt of the parameters by clicking on Force alignment of all cards inside the loop header (the cards will inherit the new part number)
Attention: it is not recommended to force the alignment of the cards when dealing with a phase-out.
If you don't force the alignemnt, the cards will show the new part number from the next release: the old kanban loop will remain in the kanban board as long as there are cards with the old part number.
