By default, KanbanBOX assigns the template that is set as default to the kanban cards.
However, it is possibile to create one or more template selection rules that allows you to assign specific templates to certain groups of kanban cards.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Template set as default | A template that is set as default is used for every kanban cards that is not bound by a template selection rule to different template. The default template is unique. |
Template selection rules | A template selection rule binds a specific category of kanban cards (sharing a certain variable, like a supplier, a customer, bin type, etc...) to a specific template. |
In general, a template selection rule wins over the default template, thus redefining the template for the particular category of kanban cards.
How to set a template as default
Procedure:
- Go to
Print >
Template list.
- Click on
Set as default at the end of the row.
- The template that was set as default is now starred and is used when printing the kanban cards.
How to create a template selection rule

- Go to
Print >
Template selection rules.
- Click on
Add new printing rule at the top right section of the table.
-
Select the print rule field:
Field Description User that is printing It is possible to choose a different template when a specific user is printing the kanban cards. Cards shown with specific filter A specific template is bound to the cards that match the chosen filter. Specific customer A specific template is bound to the cards that share the specific customer. Type of kanban A specific template is bound to the cards belonging to a specific kanban type (production, purchase, sale, move and activity). Type of card A specific template is bound to the cards that match the chosen type of card (throwaway or reusable). -
Choose the corresponding variable (for example, "Purchase" if the chosen field is Type of kanban or the specific supplier if the chosen field is Specific Supplier).
- Select the appropriate template from the dropdown menu.
- Select On or Off to activate or disable the rule.
- Click on
Save rule.
Priority for template selection rules
When configuring different template selection rules, a kanban card might be bound to two or more different rules.
To avoid any interference, a priority is associated to each field: rules with higher priority will prevail over the ones with lower priority.
Field | Priority |
---|---|
User that is printing | 70 |
Cards shown with specific filter | 65 |
Specific customer | 50 |
Specific supplier | 40 |
Type of client | 30 |
Type of supplier | 20 |
Specific bin | 15 |
Type of kanban | 10 |
Type of card | 5 |
Here is an example.
Let us imagine that the following rules were configured in your license:
- Rule 1: assign template1 when type of supplier = External (priority 20)
- Rule 2: assign template2 when type of card = Throwaway (priority 5)
In this case, when printing any throwaway kanban cards whose supplier is external, the chosen template is going to be template1 and not template2, since rule 1 prevails over rule 2.
