What’s a partner
In KanbanBOX a Partner is a generic supplier or customer, or both, either internal or external.
Can then be:
- An external supplier of raw materials, work in process or finished goods.
- An internal department (supplier or customer, or both) where I produce or move raw materials, work in process or finished goods.
- An internal warehouse (supplier or customer, or both) where I produce or move raw materials, work in process of finished goods.
- An external customer, to whom I sell raw materials, work in process or finished goods.
In general, it’s an internal department or warehouse, or an external company link to the supply chain of our firm.
In addition, a supplier can be a Multisourcing strategy. A Multisourcing strategy allows you to order released cards of a loop to two or more suppliers (see the guide Multisourcing strategy)
Add a new partner
Procedure:
- Get in Masters > Partners > Add new partner.
- Fill all the data concerning the partner:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Name | Name of the partner. Possibly, write the business name. |
Partner number | Partner identification code. With ERP integration, partner number must be the same in both software. |
Supplier or Customer | Supplier: new partner is only supplier in the kanban system. Customer: new partner is only customer in the kanban system. Supplier and customer: new partner is either supplier and customer in the kanban system. |
Type | Internal: a partner that belongs to the same license; for examples production lines, manufacturing cells, internal supermarkets, etc... External: a partner that doesn't belong to the same license, but identifies an external supplier or customer. |
Color | Partner color. Color is used in kanban cards, schedules and kanban boards to better identify the partner. |
Custom field 1, 2 and 3 | Custom fields. Remember to define the field in Company settings > Form settings. |
Delivery days | If partner delivery on fixed days of the week, choose Yes and delivery days of the week for this partner. |
Associated planner user | Is the user that manages the kanban loops of this partner. In particular he shall be able to receive alert notifications related to limit management (when kanban loops reach the limit or reach the alert) |
Notification settings | Set up partner notifications for users in the company. For this partner, chose the concerned status and users that will receive the notification. |
It is possible to add custom validation for some fields. See Custom field validation for more information.
- Click Save and the partner is filled in the master.
Update a partner
Procedure:
- Get in Masters > Partners > Partners list.
- In the partners list, search or filter the part to update, and at the end of the row click the button Edit partner.
- After the update, to confirm click Save.
Delete a partner
Before deleting a partner, check if the partner is used in a kanban loop or card (as supplier or customer).
Procedure:
- Get in Masters > Partners > Partners list.
- In the partners list, search or filter the part to update, and at the end of the row click the button Delete partner.
- To confirm the delete, click Save.
